KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jada Bennington of William Woods (Mo.) has been named the NAIA National Women's Golfer of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Bennington was selected based on her performances from April 2 - 8 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group golfer of the week selections.
Bennington, a native of Beloit, Wis., carded an even par 144 to claim her first individual championship of the season at the William Woods University Spring Invitational on April 2 - 3. Additionally, she propelled the Owls to their second-straight team championship and set a new school record for a 36-hole tournament with a team score of 592 (295-297).
On the season, Bennington ranks fifth nationally with a 76.2 stroke average in 18 rounds this season. Her previous season-best finish was a second place at the Eagle Invitational on March 19 - 20.
The next Women's Golfer of the Week will be announced on April 18.
