2014 NAIA Menís Golfer of the Week Ė No. 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nicolas Herrera of Bellevue (Neb.) (second from the left in the team photo) has been named the NAIA National Men’s Golfer of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Herrera was selected based on his performance from March 24 – 30 and was chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group winners.

Herrera, a native of Cali, Colombia, earned his second individual title of the season after winning a three-way playoff at the Battle at Primm on March 26 in Primm, Nev. He finished with rounds of 68, 72 and 69 for a three-round total score of 209. He beat out 89 other golfers, and as a team, the Bruins took fourth place out of 18 schools.

Currently, the freshman star is tied for No. 31 in the NAIA with an average round score of 73.17.
