Women’s Swimmer & Diver of the Month – No. 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Melissa Peplinski of Cumberlands (Ky.) has been named NAIA National Women's Swimmer & Diver of the Month for the 2012 - 2013 season, the national office announced Wednesday. Peplinski was selected based on her performances in the month of January and was chosen out of a pool of candidates nominated by NAIA women's swimming & diving programs.

The Spokane Valley, Wash., native, won three individual events and one team relay she competed in during January. Peplinski helped the Patriots win the 200-yard medley relay against Centre College (Ky.) on Jan. 18. Peplinski racked up two more first place finishes against Centre College, as she won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.55 seconds and 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.23 seconds. The very next day Peplinski won the 200 yard individual medley (2:21.23) against Berea (Ky.).

The next and final Swimmer & Diver of the Month award will be announced on Feb. 20.
