KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kory Kistner of Morningside (Iowa) has been named the NAIA National Wrestler of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Kistner was selected based on his performances from Feb. 6 – 12.
Kistner, a 5-foot-6 junior, posted No. 6 Morningside’s fastest of four total pins in its 42-3 rout of Briar Cliff on Feb. 8 when he disposed of the Charger’s Nate Garcia in just 1:08. With the victory, the Mustangs claimed their second consecutive Great Plains Athletic Conference championship.
A native of Sioux City, Iowa, Kistner ranks No. 7 in the 125-pound weight class.
The final Wrestler of the Week announcement will be made on Feb. 22.
