KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Jordan Holcomb of Embry-Riddle (Fla.) has been named NAIA Volleyball National Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Holcomb was selected based on her performance from Sept. 10 - 16 and was chosen out of a pool of conference player of the week selections among 23 conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.
Holcomb, a 5-10 senior outside hitter from New Smyrna Beach, Fla., led the Eagles to a 3-1 record including wins over two ranked teams in the Homestead-Holiday Inn Invitational. She notched a career-high 26 kills, 14 digs and five block assists in Embry-Riddle's 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-18, 36-34) victory over then-No. 7 Grand View (Iowa) and posted 13 kills, 16 digs and four block assists in the Eagles 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-21) win over then-No. 22 Viterbo (Wis.). Holcomb posted 63 kills, 57 digs and a .300 attack percentage in the Eagles four matches.
Holcomb leads Embry-Riddle with 172 kills on the season and is second on the team in digs with 145. She ranks 18th in the NAIA in kills per set with a 3.91 average.
