KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fabricio Marales of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) has been named NAIA National Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Marales was selected based on his performances from April 15 – 21 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group player of the week selections.
Morales, a junior from Cancun, Mexico, won all his matches last week in the Mid-South Conference Tournament. In the quarterfinals against St. Catharine (Ky.) on April 16, Morales was victorious in No. 2 doubles, 8-2, and did not finish his No. 2 singles match before the Blue Raiders defeated the Patriots, 5-0.
Morales was victorious in No. 2 doubles, 8-2, in the semifinals on April 19 against No. 22 Campbellsville (Ky.). His singles match did not finish because the Blue Raiders won, 5-0, to advance to the Mid-South Conference championship match. Morales continued his winning ways the next day, as he won his singles match, 6-0, 6-1, and his doubles match, 8-6, to help the Blue Raiders defeat Cumberland (Tenn.), 5-3, for the Mid-South Conference Tournament title.
Morales is 12-4 in singles and 17-2 in doubles this season.
The final men’s tennis Player of the Week will be announced on May 1.
