KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Florence Dadson of Robert Morris (Ill.) has been named the NAIA National Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Brittany Toth has been tabbed National Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Dadson and Toth, who are the first weekly award winners for the 2013 season, were selected based on their performances from Sept. 2 – 8 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.
Dadson, a senior forward from Cape Coast, Ghana, registered all five goals in Robert Morris’ 5-3 come-from-behind victory at Grand View (Iowa) on Sept. 7. The reigning Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year netted the eventual game-winner in the 82nd minute off an assist from Carolynn Wieland. She sealed the victory with an unassisted score in the 89th minute. Dadson’s five-goal performance is the second most in program history, trailing only Patience Avre’s six goals against Benedictine (Kan.) on Sept. 4, 2004.
Dadson, a 2011 and 2012 NAIA All-America selection, leads the Eagles in goals with five and shots with 18 (10 shots on goal) through three games.
Toth, a goalkeeper from Lincoln, Neb., earned her first shutout of the season – sixth career – with six saves in 105 minutes to help lead Hastings to a 1-0 overtime victory against then-No. 2 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) on Sept. 7. One day prior, the senior opened the week’s contests with a two-save victory against Waldorf (Iowa). She allowed an 83rd minute goal against the Warriors, but it proved inconsequential as the Broncos held on for a 2-1 win. Toth has played in all four games this season and owns a 1.53 goals against average.
