Players of the Week - No. 7

October 18, 2011
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kelsey Christner of Grace (Ind.) has been named the NAIA National Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Biola's (Calif.) Erin Frushon has been selected as NAIA National Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Christner and Frushon were selected based on their performances from Oct. 10 - 16 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.

Christner was the difference maker for the Lady Lancers in both matches. She dished out the game-winning assist to Jocelyn Evans in the 83rd minute to lift Grace past Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio), 2-1, on Oct. 11. The Lady Lancers trailed No. 10 Spring Arbor (Mich.) 1-0 with 10 minutes remaining. The freshman midfielder sent a 26-yarder into the back of the net for the equalizer. In overtime, the Topeka, Ind., native then curled in a corner kick to lift the Lady Lancers (9-5-1) to victory on Oct. 15.

Frushon made seven saves and allowed just one goal as Biola won a pair of Golden State Athletic Conference matches, including a 2-1 overtime upset of No. 3 Azusa Pacific (Calif.) on Oct. 15. The goal she surrendered to the Cougars was the first allowed by Frushon at home since Aug. 30, snapping a string of 390 scoreless minutes. Earlier in the week, the senior keeper from Bonsall, Calif., made four saves and recorded her third shutout of the season as the Eagles defeated Fresno Pacific (Calif.), 1-0.

The next Players of the Week announcement will be on Oct. 25.
