NAIA Wrestler of the Week – No. 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo - Tyler Kacmarynski of Morningside (Iowa) has been named the NAIA National Wrestler of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Kacmarynski is the first honoree of the 2012-13 season and was selected based on his performance from Dec. 31 - Jan. 6.
Following a three-week break, Kacmarynski, a native a Spencer, Iowa, returned to the mat with a stellar performance in Morningside's seventh dual of the season against top-ranked Grand View (Iowa) on Jan. 5. The junior heavyweight, who at the time was ranked fifth in the class, upended defending national champion and then-No. 2 Eric Thompson, 9-3. With the win, Kacmarynski improved to 17-2 on the season and 7-1 against NAIA competition.
