KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Florian Loutre of Lee (Tenn.) has been named the NAIA National Men’s Golfer of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Loutre was selected based on his performance from April 15 – 21 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group golfer of the week selections.
Loutre, a native of Le Mans, France, led the Flames to a four stroke win at the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament April 15 – 17 at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Ala. The freshman carded a 70-67-70—207 at the 54-hole event to top a field of 55 individuals from 11 teams. Loutre’s 5-under-par placed him five strokes ahead of the second place finisher and played a key role in Lee’s team score of 851 (282-284-285). The Flames’ team victory guarantees Lee an automatic berth in the 2013 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championships in Salem, Ore., May 14 – 17.
The final Men’s Golfer of the Week will be announced on May 1. For the complete 2013 Golfer of the Week schedule, click here.
