NAIA Volleyball Player of the Week – No. 7

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nicole Gingery of Ottawa (Kan.) has been named the NAIA Volleyball National Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Gingery was selected based on her performances from Oct. 14 - 20 and was chosen out of a pool of conference player of the week selections among 23 conferences and independents.
Gingery, a 5-foot-10 senior middle hitter from Lincoln, Neb., hit at a .548 clip in the Braves three games last week. Behind Gingery, Ottawa went 3-0 with sweeps over Bethany (Kan.), Saint Mary (Kan.) and Bethel (Kan.). The middle hitter had just seven errors across the three contests, while recording 41 kills on 62 attempts. She averaged 4.5 kills per set, 13.6 kills per match and hit over .500 in each of the Braves matches last week. Gingery also added five block assists, two service aces and four digs in the matches. For the season, she leads the team in kills (221) and hitting percentage (.307) and is second on the team in total blocks (42).
In national statistics, Gingery ranks 49th in hitting percentage (.307).
