Lakenya Wrightsil of Martin Methodist College (Tenn.), Amanda Bowling of Union College (Ky.), and Angela Montreuil of King College (Tenn.) have been selected as NAIA National Player, Setter, and Libero of the week for the week ending Sunday, November 12, 2006.
Wrightsil, a junior middle hitter from Big Spring, Texas, has 29 double-doubles in 37 matches played on the season. Her 33 kills in last weeks championship match win over Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) was her fifth 30 kill match of the season. She helped lead her team to their second-consecutive TranSouth Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championship during the week. She also averaged 4 digs/match and had a .442 kill percentage on the week.
Bowling, a senior setter from Louisville, Kentucky, set single-season records for most assists (1,427) and digs (523) in a season. She finished career with 5,006, becoming first player in school history to reach 5,000 assists. Bowling also had a triple-double vs. Bryan with 10 kills, 40 assists, 16 digs. She averaged 11.81 assists and 3.44 digs/match on the week. On the season, Bowling's had six triple-doubles and 33 double-doubles.
Montreuil, a senior libero from Knoxville, Tennessee, averaged 8.53 digs/match on week with a match-high of 51 in a 3-2 win over Virginia Intermont College. Ing College is now 28-9 on the season.
