Women’s Golfer of the Week – No. 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Maggie Yang of William Penn (Iowa) has been named the NAIA National Women’s Golfer of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Yang was selected based on her performances from March 19 – 25 and was chosen out of a poll of conference/independent/unaffiliated group golfer of the week selections.

Yang, a freshman from Chino, Calif., led the Lady Statesmen to their third-consecutive team title, while also claiming the individual crown, at the Iowa Intercollegiate Championships held March 23 – 24 in Moravia, Iowa. She opened the tournament with a round-one 76, before breaking the William Penn 18-hole record with a 3-over 75 in round two. Yang’s total score of 151 also broke the program record for lowest 36-hole score.

On the season, Yang owns a 79.7 scoring average over 14 rounds and has finished in the top ten in 6-of-7 events.

The next Women’s Golfer of the Week will be announced on April 4.
