KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Ra'Shad James of Northwood (Fla.) has been tabbed the NAIA National Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. James was selected based on his performances from Jan. 14 - 20 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group winners.
James, a 6-foot-1 guard from White Plains, N.Y., posted averages of 27.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists per game, while shooting 56.6 percent from the floor in wins over Warner (Fla.) (84-79), St. Thomas (Fla.) (77-73) and Southeastern (Fla.) (83-70). James scored a game-high 36 points against Warner, his fifth time this season he has scored over 30 points. He also chipped in six rebounds and four assists. Two days later, James followed up his 36-point performance with 24 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks in a victory over St. Thomas. Capping off the week, James scored 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds.
Currently in the Division II ranks, James is first in points per game (24.3) and fifth in total points (462).
