KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Maxx Catapano of Bellevue University (Neb.) has been named the NAIA National Baseball Pitcher of the Week and Kevin Tenney of Trinity International University (Ill.) has been selected as the NAIA National Baseball Player of the Week, the National Office announced Tuesday. The duo was selected based on performances from April 19-25. The pair was chosen out of a pool of conference player of the week selections among 20 conferences and independents.

Catapano, a 6-4 junior pitcher from Milford, Conn., recorded a complete-game, one-hit win over No. 17 York (Neb.). Starting off the week on April 20, he pitched a scoreless ninth inning against Sioux Falls (S.D.). He sealed off an 11-4 victory, which was the 25th straight for Bellevue. On April 24, Catapano went 7.0 innings and allowed just one hit in the 5-0 victory over York. He struck out eight batters and walked two. He shut down an offense ranked sixth nationally in batting average and 13th in scoring.

Catapano is 20th in the NAIA in strikeouts per nine innings (10.5). He stands 5-1 on the season for the No. 8 Bruins with a 3.04 ERA in 47.1 innings of work.

Tenney, a 6-0 junior first baseman from San Diego, Calif., hit .813 (13-for-16) with six home runs in four wins last week for Trinity International. He pounded opposing pitchers to the tune of eight extra base-hits (six homers, two doubles) and a slugging percentage of 2.063. He drove in 16 runs and scored nine times. In the 20-10 win over North Central (Minn.), a NCAA Division III school, Tenney went 5-for-5 with two homers, six RBIs, three runs scored and one double. He also had a two-home run day, going 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs against Trinity Christian (Ill.) on April 20.

In national statistics, Tenney ranks 10th in RBIs (62) and 37th in total bases (113). He has helped the Trojans win nine of their last 11 games and improve to 28-16 on the season.
