Pedja Lazic Named NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Pedja Lazic of Aquinas (Mich.) College has been selected as the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 16-22. This announcement marks the final 2008-09 Player of the Week.

 

Lazic, a 6-6 senior forward from Kentwood, Mich., went for the most rebounds in the last 43 years while helping Aquinas end the regular season with a conference championship. In the 85-63 road win at Indiana Tech, Pedja finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. In the following game, he grabbed a career-high 21 rebounds and added 15 points, two blocks and two steals in the 66-57 win at Cornerstone (Mich.). The rebounding output was the most for an AC player since 1966. With his two double-doubles last week, he has 12 total this year including the last four straight games.

 

For the week, he averaged 20.0 points, 15.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 blocks, 1.5 steals and shot 44.8 percent (13-for-29).

 

Among NAIA statistical leaders, he is 18th in the country in rebounding (9.5) and 22nd in field goal percentage (.566). For more information on the NAIA statistical rankings, click here.
