OLATHE, Kan. - Concordia (Neb.) senior guard Jon Ziegler is the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Player of the week after helping Concordia to a pair of wins, including a nine-point victory over nationally ranked Sioux Falls (S.D.), a game in which he poured in 47 points on 14-of-19 from the floor and 16-of-21 at the foul line.
Ziegler averaged 34.5 points and seven rebounds per game, finishing 24-of-36 from the floor and 3-of-5 from the 3-point arc in the two-game stretch. In addition to its win over Sioux Falls, Ziegler also helped Concordia beat Midland Lutheran (Neb.) by 10, scoring 22 and finishing with three assists. He had two blocks and two steals in the game.
Ziegler ended the week with five assists, 14 boards and four steals, while also going 18-of-23 from the foul line and 3-of-8 from outside the 3-point arc. During the win over Sioux Falls, Ziegler topped 2,000 career points and became the all-time leading scorer in Concordia basketball history. His 47 points were the second-most in GPAC history.
Ziegler's new scoring mark breaks a 35-year-old record, which was established in 1971.
