KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Robbie Haynie of Eastern Oregon has been honored as the NAIA National Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of The Week and Gregory Turner of Wayland Baptist (Texas) has been named the NAIA National Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of The Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Haynie and Turner were selected based on their performances from April 9 - 15. Haynie gathers his second-straight award and third in 2012 after he notched an indoor honor on Jan. 25.

Haynie, a senior from Nampa, Idaho, became the first NAIA athlete this season to clear seven feet in the high jump. He posted a leap of 7' ½" at the Eastern Oregon Open on April 14 to finish first overall.  He took medalist honors in the long jump with a distance of 22' 9 ¼". He now owns the top pole vault and high jump marks in the NAIA. In a track event, Haynie set a personal-high in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.32.

Turner, a junior from West Sacramento, Calif., posted the NAIA's best times and established two school records in the 100- and 200-meters at the NCAA Division I Texas Tech Open on April 14. He finished second overall among over 35 competitors in both the 100-meters (10.21) and 200-meters (20.26). In addition, he ran a leg on the 4x400-meter relay team which also turned in the NAIA's top time of the season at 3:09.05. The previous school mark in the 100-meters (10.24) was set back in 1988, while the old record in the 200-meters (20.51) was established in 2003.
