KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Keaton Thomas of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) has been named the NAIA National Wrestler of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Thomas was selected based on his performances from Jan. 27 – Feb. 2 and was chosen out of a pool of nominees from the four Qualifying Groups.
Thomas, a junior from Morganfield, Ky., recorded a 2-0 record during the week with both victories coming against higher-ranked opponents. In the Blue Raiders Jan. 28 dual against No. 5 Campbellsville (Ky.), Thomas defeated fourth-ranked Tyler Alsip, 6-5. Three days later, the 15th-ranked 133-pounder claimed a major decision (11-3) win against No. 11 Andrew Tillman of No. 9 Cumberlands (Ky.). As a team, the Blue Raiders defeated Campbellsville, 23-9, and Cumberlands, 30-3.
On the year, Thomas owns a 13-8 record, including a 5-4 mark against NAIA opponents.
