Josephine Owino Named NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Josephine Owino of Union (Tenn.) has been selected as the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 1, 2009.
Owino, a senior center from Mombasa, Kenya, averaged 23.7 points and 9.3 rebounds in three wins for the Lady Bulldogs last week. She scored 24 points and cleared a 18 rebounds against No. 10 Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) and then added 23 points in 18 minutes against Blue Mountain (Miss.) and 24 points in 19 minutes against Mid-Continent (Ky.). Owino also passed 2,000 points for her career in the win against TNU. She shot 66.7 percent from the floor and 78.9 percent from the free-throw line during the week.
