KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nathan Anderson of Texas Wesleyan has been named the first NAIA National Men’s Golfer of the Week for the 2013 season, the national office announced Wednesday. Anderson was selected based on his performance from March 11 – 17 and was chosen out of a poll of conference/independent/unaffiliated group golfer of the week selections.
Anderson claimed his first individual title of the 2013 spring season with a crown at the UST Mamiya Texas Intercollegiate at Hawks Creek Golf Club in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 12. The senior native of Burleson, Texas, carded a 69-70 – 139 at the two day event to top a field of 76 individuals from 13 teams. Anderson’s 5-under-par placed him one stroke ahead of the second place finisher and helped Texas Wesleyan to a team championship.
Anderson, who finished second at the 2012 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championships, also received the National Golfer of the Week award on April 18, 2012.
The next Men’s Golfer of the Week will be announced on March 27. For the complete 2013 Golfer of the Week schedule, click here.
