KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Louis Falland of Cornerstone (Mich.) has been named the NAIA National Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and Kale Wolken of Doane (Neb.) has been selected as the NAIA National Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Falland and Wolken were selected based on their performances from Feb. 17 – 23. This is the final selection of the 2014 indoor season.

Falland, a senior from Noriootpa, Australia, broke the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) meet record in the mile at the WHAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 22. His clocking of 4:15.95 put him first in a field of 14 other mile runners. Falland also easily won the 1,000 (2:30.40) and 3,000 meters (8:49.77). For his 30 points, he was awarded the WHAC Performer of the Meet as the top scorer. Falland also won the same three events at the 2012 event.

Wolken, a sophomore from Tecumseh, Neb., was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Male Athlete of the Year and the GPAC Championship Male Outstanding Athlete after recording the top point total of all individual athletes on Feb. 22. He won the heptathlon (5,135 points) and long jump (7.29 meters), while also earning points in the pole vault (4.55 meters) and high jump (1.91 meters). He broke three meet records while competing within the heptathlon. In the heptathlon, he posted a "B" standard in the high jump to move into 16th in the NAIA. He hit the "A" standard in both the long jump and in the heptathlon's long jump. Currently, Wolken's heptathlon total ranks third in the NAIA. Wolken helped Doane to a runner-up team finish.
