Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Gabriella Dixson of Concordia (Ore.) has been named NAIA National Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week and Jura Levy of Oklahoma Baptist has been tabbed as the NAIA National Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Dixson and Levy were selected based on their performances from Jan. 7 - 13.
Levy was honored twice during the 2012 indoor and outdoor seasons, while Dixson won the award once during the 2012 outdoor campaign.
Dixson, a native of Battle Ground, Wash., posted a pair of NAIA automatic indoor national qualifying marks in her 2013 debut at the University of Washington Indoor Preview on Jan. 12. In a field of competitors mostly from the NCAA Division I ranks, Dixson took home top medalist honors in the weight throw with a heave of 17.03 meters (55-10 ½). She also placed second in the shot put with a toss of 13.84 meters (45-5). The nine-time All-American currently is ranked second in the NAIA in the weight throw and third in the shot put.
Levy, a native of Trelawny, Jamaica, finished in the top-three in two events at a NCAA Division I meet, the Wichita State Herm Wilson Invitational on Jan. 10. She hit national championship qualifying standards in both the 60-meters and 4x400 meter relay. She finished second in the 60-meters with a time of 7.36, which is the best in the NAIA this year, and took third in the 4x400-meter relay (3:55.23). Amongst all NCAA Divisions, Levy is tied for the sixth-best mark this year in the 60-meters.
