KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Nate Kasper of Taylor (Ind.) has been tabbed the NAIA National Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Kasper was selected based on his performances from Jan. 28 - Feb. 3 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group winners.
Kasper, a 6-foot-8 senior forward, was an integral part of two wins for Taylor last week. He averaged 24.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. The Valparaiso, Ind., native shot 79.1 percent (19-of-24) from the field.
Kasper tallied 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting, and collected five rebounds in a 68-56 win over Saint Francis (Ind.) on Jan. 29. On Feb. 2 against Marian (Ind.), Kasper scored a career-high 30 points on 11-of-15 shooting, while grabbing nine boards. He was also a perfect 8-for-8 from the line. The win against Marian moved Taylor into a tie atop the Crossroads League standings with a 11-3 record.
In national statistical rankings, Kasper ranks 20th in field goal percentage (57.4 percent) and Free Throw percentage (83.9 percent).
