2014 NAIA Women's Tennis Player of the Week - No. 6

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Steph Shogren of Bethel (Kan.) has been named the NAIA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Shogren was selected based on her performances from April 14-20 and was chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated grouping award winners.

Shogren, a senior from Hesston, Kan., led Bethel to a 3-0 week with convincing wins over Southwestern (Kan.) (8-1), Tabor (Kan.) (9-0) and Bethany (Kan.) (9-0). Shogren had a perfect week at No. 2 singles, defeating Tyler Herrell of Southwestern (6-0, 6-0), Anna Friesen of Tabor (6-0, 6-1) and Juliana Bezerra of Bethany (6-3, 6-0). With her partner, Bree Honer, Shogren also recorded an unblemished week at No. 1 doubles, with victories over the top doubles tandems from Southwestern (8-1), Tabor (9-0) and Bethany (9-0).

On the year, Shogren holds an 8-3 record in singles matches and is 9-2 in doubles play.
