KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kassi Conditt of Oregon Tech has been named NAIA National Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week and Zahri Jackson of Xavier (La.) has been tabbed as the NAIA National Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Conditt and Jackson were selected based on their performances from March 18 – 24.

Conditt, a junior from La Pine, Ore., established a meet record in the shot put at the NCAA Division I Chico State (Calif.) Wildcat Invitational on March 23. Her toss of 13.63 meters (44-8 ¾) was the best in the history of the invitational and broke the Oregon Tech school record by four inches. That mark also was an “A” standard and earned her first-place status among 17 competitors.

Conditt was also All-Cascade Collegiate Conference First Team in women’s basketball averaging a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Jackson, a sophomore from Kingwood, Texas, earned the No. 1 mark in the 800-meters in the NAIA thus far. At the NCAA Division I LSU (La.) Relays on March 22 – 23, Jackson (photo top left, cZahri Jackson - Xavier ourtesy of Herman Shelton) ran the 800 in 2:12.01 to take fifth place among 30 other runners. She is the only athlete to meet the A- or B-qualifying standards in that event. She also ran the second leg on the 1,600 relay squad, which recorded the NAIA's fastest time at 3:54.13. The relay time is Xavier's fastest since reviving its track and field program in 2010. In her final event, she was part of the third-place 1,600-medley relay team (4:03.36).
