KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Paul Chelimo of Shorter (Ga.) has been named the NAIA Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Robbie Haynie of Eastern Oregon has been tabbed as the Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Chelimo and Haynie were selected based on their performances from April 25 - May 1. The duo is the final selection of the 2011 season.

Chelimo, a freshman from Iten, Kenya, earns his second weekly national award this year after an April 7th honor. At the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Championships on April 30, Chelimo ran to first-place finishes in the 1500 meters, 10,000 meters and the 4x800 meter relay. The MSC Track Athlete of the Week won the 15-man 1,500 meters with a time of 3:53.17 and was the medalist in the 10,000 run with a clocking of 30:55.80. He ran the second leg in his only relay appearance to help the team win with a time of 7:54.66. He was a part of Shorter's fourth-straight conference title.

Haynie, a junior from Nampa, Idaho, won the men's pole vault at the Pacific Twilight on April 30, hosted by Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore. He continued his phenomenal season with a top mark of 17'3", which set a meet, Lincoln Park Stadium and Eastern Oregon record. That effort broke a seven year-old school record and is No. 1 in the NAIA this year. In addition, the leap is the 19th-best at any collegiate level this year. In his second event, Haynie took 22nd in the discus (118-07).
