KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Anna Schopp of Lubbock Christian (Texas) has been tabbed the first NAIA National Women’s Golfer of the Week for the 2013 spring season, the national office announced Wednesday. Schopp was selected based on her performances from March 11 – 17 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group golfer of the week selections.
Schopp led the Lady Chaparrals to its first tournament win this spring, (323-318 –641), by 13 strokes over second place, NCAA Division II Arkansas – Fort Smith. Schopp finished second in the Texoma Chevy Dealers Lion Intercollegiate held March 12-13 in Pottsboro, Texas. The senior from Bremen, Germany, turned in a 77-78—155 finishing two strokes behind the winner, Kendall Earp of NCAA Division II Henderson State (Ark.). She was the co-leader of the tournament with 24 pars.
The next Women’s Golfer of the Week will be announced on March 27.
