2014 NAIA Menís Tennis Player of the Week Ė No. 3

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Simon Felix of Embry-Riddle (Fla.) has been named the NAIA Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Felix was selected based on his performances from March 24-30 and was chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group award winners.

Felix, a senior from Geneva, Switzerland, went undefeated on the week in matches against then-No. 16 Northwestern Ohio and NCAA Division II then-No. 8 St. Leo (Fla.). The  Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s No. 38-rated NAIA singles player knocked off two unranked opponents in Emin Alpan of Northwestern Ohio (6-1, 6-2) and Oskar Nurmio of St. Leo (6-1, 6-1) at the No. 3 singles position. He also teamed up with Deni Zmak for No. 1 doubles wins over the ITA’s No. 7-ranked NAIA doubles tandem of Daniel Rueda and Thommy Johansson (9-7) and the top doubles tandem from St. Leo (8-3).

On the season, Felix owns a 17-3 singles record and a 23-4 doubles mark, as part of the ITA’s top-ranked NAIA duo.
