KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Cayla Hebert of Mobile (Ala.) has been named the NAIA National Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Catherine Schmidt of Marian (Ind.) has been named the NAIA National Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Hebert and Schmidt were selected based on their performances from Oct. 23 – 29, and were chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group winners.
Offensive Player of the Week
Cayla Hebert, Mobile (Ala.)
Sr., MF, Lafayette, La.
- Finished with her second hat trick of the year in the 4-1 victory against No. 1 William Carey (Miss.) in Hattiesburg, Miss. Mobile handed the Crusaders their first loss of the year.
- Weekly Stats:
- Recorded three goals and six points in lone match of the week
- The trio of goals came within a 10-minute span
- Currently, she ranks sixth in school history in total goals
Defensive Player of the Week
Catherine Schmidt, Marian (Ind.)
Sr., GK, Zionsville, Ind.
- In 1-1 draw with No. 2 Spring Arbor (Mich.), Schmidt captured a season-high 10 saves. That result handed Marian the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Crossroads League Tournament.
- Weekly Stats:
- Tallied 12 saves in 220 minutes in the net
- Allowed just one goal
- Finished with two saves in 110 minutes in scoreless draw against Huntington (Ind.)
