KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Mallory Conrad of Bethel (Ind.) has been named the NAIA National Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week and Kelsey Langille of Cumberland (Tenn.) has been tabbed National Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Conrad and Langille were selected based on their performances from Sept. 17 - 23 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings. The honor is the second of the season for Langille.
Conrad, a freshman goalkeeper from Osceola, Ind., posted a 1-0 shutout in her first collegiate start on Sept. 19 against then-No. 25 Siena Heights (Mich.). Additionally, it marks the first time this season the Saints have been held scoreless. Conrad, who had seen action as a reserve in two previous games, tallied eight saves, including five in the second half. She currently owns a 1.140 goals against average and .867 save percentage.
Langille, a freshman forward from Ardrossan, Alberta, totaled seven goals, including both game-winners, to lead Cumberland to victories against Mid-South Conference rivals Campbellsville (Ky.) and Cumberlands (Ky.) last week. Against Campbellsville on Sept. 19, Langille netted the eventual game-winner in the 32nd minute and connected on another just three minutes later to propel the Bulldogs to a 2-0 victory. Her scoring streak continued with a career-high five-goal effort, including a hat trick in the first half, to lead Cumberland to a 7-0 victory against Cumberlands on Sept. 22. The victory extended the Bulldogs current win streak to four games.
Langille, who has only been held scoreless in one game this season, leads the NAIA in goals per game (2.5), while ranking second in goals (20), points (42), points per game (5.25), shots per game (8.25) and shots on goal per game (4.75).
