KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Taylor Degraaf of Cal State San Marcos has been named the NAIA Volleyball National Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Degraaf was selected based on her performances from Sept. 16 - 22 and was chosen out of a pool of conference player of the week selections among 23 conferences and independents.
Degraaf, a 5-foot-10 junior outside hitter from Arcadia, Calif., averaged 5.18 kills per set, 3.73 digs per set and hit for a .324 attack clip in three wins for the Cougars last week. She recorded her 10th double-double of the year (in 24 matches) with a 21-kill, 19-dig effort in the 3-1 home win (25-27, 25-16, 25-19, 25-23) against No. 9 Westmont (Calif.) on Sept. 17. In the 3-0 sweep (25-14, 25-12, 25-11) of California-Merced on Sept. 20, she finished with a season-high in attack percentage (.591). Degraaf finished the week with 22 kills and 16 digs in a victory over William Jessup (Calif.) on Sept. 21. DeGraaf is the NAIA leader in kills (352) and is third in kills per game (4.46).
