KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Christine Tixier of Biola (Calif.) has been named the NAIA National Women's Swimmer & Diver of the Month, the national office announced Friday. Tixier was selected based on her performances in the months of October through December. She was chosen out of a pool of candidates nominated by NAIA women’s swimming & diving programs.
Tixier, a junior from Benton City, Wash., has already qualified for the national championships in eight different events (50-Freestyle, 100-Freestyle, 100-Breaststroke, 200-Breaststroke, 100-Butterfly, 200-Butterfly, 200-IM and 400-IM). Since Oct. 12 at her first meet of the season, Tixier has tallied seven first-place finishes and 10 second-place efforts. She has finished outside of the top three just five times all season.
Tixier is the national championship record-holder in the 100-yard butterfly (:54.60), which was established at the 2012 event.
