KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Dominique Rambo of SAGU (Texas) has been named the NAIA National Division I Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Rambo is the first honoree of the 2013-14 season and was selected based on his performances from Dec. 30 – Jan. 5. He was chosen out of a pool of conference and independent award winners.
Rambo, a 5-foot-10 senior guard from Dallas, Texas, averaged 36.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.5 steals in two Lions victories last week. In the 89-76 win over Sooner Athletic Conference preseason favorite Oklahoma Baptist on Jan. 2, Rambo poured in 40 points on 15-of-30 shooting. He added four rebounds and three assists. The 2012-13 NAIA Co-Player of the Year then posted 32 points in the 82-77 win against Mid-America Christian (Okla.) on Jan. 4. Dating back to last year, Rambo has hit for at least 10 points in his last 23 games.
