KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Dylan Freeman of Coastal Georgia has been named the NAIA National Men’s Golfer of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Freeman, who is the first weekly award winner of the 2014 season, was selected based on his performance from March 10 – 16 and was chosen out a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group winners.
Freeman, a native of Athens, Ga., won his second individual medal of the season and fifth of his career with a 3-under, 213 at the USC-Beaufort (S.C.) Sand Shark Classic at the Oldfield Golf Club in Okatie, S.C., March 10-11. The senior, who is the reigning Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Year, holed a birdie on the first sudden-death playoff hole to win a three-man playoff. As a team, the Mariners won the event by 21 strokes to extend their tournament winning streak to three-straight.
Freeman’s previous victory of the season came at the St. Andrews (N.C.) Fall Invitational in Aberdeen, N.C., Nov. 4 – 5.
