KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Hannah Fields of Oklahoma Baptist has been named the NAIA Women's Cross Country National Runner of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Fields was chosen for her performance during the week of Sept. 8-14 and was selected out of a pool of conference and independent award winners.
Fields, a senior from Edmond, Okla., won the NCAA Division I Texas-Arlington Ritchey Invitational championship on Sept. 13, outrunning 73 competitors on her way to a first-place finish in the 5K event in 17:03.
In winning the college division of the race, Fields finished ahead of competitors from Division I schools such as Southern Methodist, Baylor, Texas Christian and North Texas.
