NAIA Women’s Soccer Players of the Week – No. 5 (Oct. 7)

KANSAS CITY, MO. – Brittany Houghton of College of Idaho has been named the NAIA National Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week and Shauna Gilpin of Cumberland (Tenn.) has been named the NAIA National Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday.

 

National Defensive Player of the Week
Brittany Houghton, College of Idaho
Freshman, Goalkeeper, Saratoga Springs, Utah

·Helped lead the Coyotes to an undefeated week that included upset over then-No. 1 and previously unbeaten Concordia (Ore.).
·Combined to make 10 saves in 135 minutes in net in two games.
·Tallied six saves in the second half en route to earning a combined shutout in the 1-0 upset of No. 1 Concordia on Oct. 4.
·Ranks 29th in country in goals against average at 0.73.
·Earns first NAIA National Player of the Week honor.

National Offensive Player of the Week
Shauna Gilpin, Cumberland (Tenn.)
Senior, Forward, St. John’s, Newfoundland

·Helped the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record this week behind a combined six goals, one assist, and 13 points.
·Netted a career-best four goals against Cumberlands (Ky.).
·Leads Mid-South Conference in goals (17), points (38) and game-winning goals (4) this season.
·Ranks fourth nationally in all three categories.
·Earns first NAIA National Player of the Week honor.
