NAIA Division II Menís Basketball Player of the Week Ė No. 3 (Jan. 20)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Matt Schauss of Bethel (Ind.) has been named the NAIA National Division II Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. This honor, which captures statistics from Jan. 12 – 18, is the second of the 2014-15 season. Schauss was chosen out of a group of conference award winners.

 

National Player of the Week
Matt Schauss of Bethel (Ind.) 
6-4, Sr., G, Centerville, Ind.

• Schauss averaged 30 points, 13 rebounds, 5.5 assists and one steal on the week, helping guide the eighth-ranked Bethel (Ind.) Pilots to two wins.
• He shot 61 percent from the field (19-of-31), 88 percent from the free throw line (15-of-17) and a blistering 88 percent from three-point range (7-of-8).
• The guard had 20 points and 12 rebounds in a 96-86 victory at Huntington (Ind.), followed by a career-high 40 points and 14 rebounds in a 104-78 win against Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio).
• In the Mount Vernon Nazarene contest, the Centerville, Ind., native set single-game school records for consecutive threes made in a game (5-for-5) and three-point field goal percentage (100 percent).
• Schauss becomes just the 11th player in program history to reach the 40-point plateau.
