2015 Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - No. 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Hannah Fields of Oklahoma Baptist has been named NAIA National Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and Carly Schmidt of Indiana Tech has been selected as the NAIA National Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Fields and Schmidt were selected based on their performances from Jan. 12-18, and out of a pool of conference winners. This is the first honor of the 2015 indoor track & field season.

Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Hannah Fields, Oklahoma Baptist
Sr., Edmond, Okla.

• Fields won four events this week for the Bison.
• The Edmond, Okla., native flexed her muscles in the NCAA Division II Missouri Southern Invitational on Jan. 17.
• She won both the 800-meter and 3000-meter with the fastest times in the NAIA in both events so far this season (2:11.13 and 9:50.78). Fields also was an anchor in both winning relay teams’ races as well.

Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Carly Schmidt, Indiana Tech
Fr., Lake Forest, Ill.

• Schmidt, a freshman, recorded an NAIA Automatic Qualifying standard and broke the Indiana Tech indoor school record by 10" in her first jump of the season.
• She cleared 3.94 meters (12-11) to tie for second at the NCAA Division II GVSU (Mich.) Mike Lints Open.
• Her height is also the best in the NAIA to date.
