NAIA Volleyball Players of the Week No. 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Samantha Voils, Marlowe Beatty and Rachel Kater have been named NAIA National Volleyball Players of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. These three were selected based on their performances from Sept. 7 to Sept. 14 and were chosen out of a pool of conference and player of the week selections.


National Attacker of the Week

Samantha Voils, Missouri Valley
Jr., OH, Nokomis, Ill.

  • Helped lead the Vikings to a 4-0 week.
  • Recorded 18 kills in an upset win over defending National Champion and No. 7 Park (Mo.)
  • Her 3.8 kills per set average ranks 22nd in the NAIA.
  • Ranks 15th in the NAIA with 191 kills.
  • This is her first career Player of the Week award

National Defender of the Week
Marlowe Beatty, Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio)
Sr., DS, Dalton, Ohio

  • Lead the Lady Cougars to a 3-0 week that included only dropping two sets.
  • Recorded 66 digs and had 57 receptions with just one error.
  • Averaging 5.8 digs per set which ranks her ninth in the NAIA.
  • This is her first career Player of the Week award

National Setter of the Week
Rachel Kater, MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.)
So., S, Benton, Kan.

  • Lead MidAmerica Nazarene to a 4-1 week including a five-set win over No. 19 Hastings (Neb.)
  • Combined for 243 assists in those five games for an average of 12.15 assists per set.
  • Ranks fifth in the NAIA with an average of 11.3 assists per set.
  • Leads the NAIA with 677 total assists.
  • This is her first career Player of the Week award.
