2015 NAIA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week – No. 6 (Oct. 13)

KANSAS CITY, Mo – Laerke Michalesen of SCAD Savannah (Ga.) has been named the NAIA National Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Niccole McGuire of Morningside (Iowa) has been selected as the NAIA National Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Michalesen and McGuire were selected for their performances during the week of Oct. 5 – 11 and were selected from a pool of conference and Association of Independent Institutions award winners.
National Offensive Player of the Week
Laerke Michaelsen, SCAD Savannah (Ga.)
Sr., F, Hasselagerm Denmark
• Recorded three goals on the week, including two in a 2-1 win over then-No. 3 Keiser (Fla.).
• Added two assists and a goal in a 3-0 victory over Johnson & Wales (Fla.).
• She has a total of six assists and six goals on the year - both lead the team. Her assist total is good enough for No. 42 in the NAIA.
• This is her first career National Offensive Player of the Week award.
National Defensive Player of the Week
Niccole McGuire, Morningside (Iowa)
So., GK., Rapid City, S.D.
• Recorded 14 total saves in two games this week against Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) and then-No. 23 Concordia (Neb.).
• Did not allow a goal in either game and has not allowed a goal in five of her last six outings.
• Ranks No. 44 in the NAIA in goals against per game, 1.020.
• This is her first career National Defensive Player of the Week award.
