KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Andrew Long of Grand View (Iowa) has been named the NAIA National Wrestler of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. He was chosen based on his performances from Dec. 28 – Jan. 3. This is the first weekly award of the 2016 season.

141-pound, Jr., Creston, Iowa

• The top-ranked wrestler went 6-0 on the weekend at the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships – hosted by NCAA Division I Northwestern (Ill.) – en route to the 141-pound title.
• Named Dan Gable Outstanding Wrestler and was voted by the other first-place individuals as the Champion of Champion award winner at the event.
• Six wins included two falls, two technical falls and one major decision.
• The first NAIA grappler to win an individual title at the event since Emmett Wilson of Montana State-Northern captured the 197-pound title in 2003.
• The first wrestler in program history to win at the Midland Championships.
• First career national weekly award.
