KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Ricardo Artis of Wiley (Texas) has been named the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Artis was selected for his play during the week of Jan. 9-15 and was chosen out of the conference and Association of Independent Institutions award winners.
Division I Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Ricardo Artis, Wiley (Texas)
6-6, Sr., F, Austin, Texas
• Artis posted 54 points, while leading the Wildcats to two victories.
• In an 85-76 victory over Southwest (N.M.), Artis recorded a new career-highs in points (34) and rebounds (20).
• In an 80-72 victory over the defending Red River Athletic Conference tournament champion Langston (Okla.), Artis scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to record his 11th double-double.
• Averaged 27.0 points, 13.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists during the week.
