KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Stephen Harris of Warner Pacific (Ore.) has been tabbed the NAIA National Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Harris was selected based on his performances from Feb. 11 - 17 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated group winners.
Harris, a 6-foot-5 senior forward, led the Knights to a share of the Cascade Collegiate Conference regular-season championship by his efforts last week. He averaged 21.5 points and 10 rebounds, while shooting 86.7 percent (13-of-15) from the floor, in two victories.
On Feb. 15, he poured in a game-high 25 points on 9-of-10 shooting to help Warner Pacific trip up No. 3 Eastern Oregon, 72-70. The native of Hillsboro, Ore., hit the game-winner at the buzzer. The next night against College of Idaho, Harris notched 18 points, 11 rebounds for his NAIA-leading 19th double-double of the year. He added three assists and two steals in the 69-56 victory.
Harris ranks first in the NAIA in rebounds per game (10.6), total rebounds (317) and is first on the team in scoring (16.1), blocks (26) and steals (53).
