KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Lindsey Martin of Columbia (Mo.) has been named the NAIA Women's Cross Country National Runner of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Martin was chosen for her performance during the week of Sept. 16 – 22 and was selected out of a pool of conference and independent award winners.
Martin, a sophomore from Lee's Summit, Mo., posted her first collegiate win on Sept. 21 at the Southern Stampede hosted by NCAA Division II Missouri Southern State. Her clocking of 18:01.16 on the 5-kilometer course was more than nine seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Martin helped her squad to a top place amongst 19 institutions, including several NCAA Division II programs. The mark was a personal record for her as well.
