KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second time this season, James Marchesani of Oklahoma City has been named the NAIA National Men’s Golfer of the Week, the national office announced Wednesday. Marchesani was selected based on his performance from April 21 – 27 and was chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group winners. Marchesani was also selected on April 16.
Marchesani, a senior from Rosebud, Victoria, Australia, captured the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) individual championship April 22 at the LaPaloma Course at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas. Marchesani became the third-straight conference titlist from Oklahoma City after he carded an 8-under 205 (67-71-67). He won by a three-stroke margin and was announced as the SAC Player of the Year. He posted 13 birdies and two eagles in the three rounds. The four-time All-SAC performer won his fourth overall event on the year.
On the season, Marchesani ranks No. 1 in the NAIA with a 70.79 round average and his six eagles are tied for the No. 1 spot.
