NAIA Menís Soccer Players of the Week Ė No. 2 (Sept. 16)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Severin Abt of Thomas (Ga.) has been named the NAIA National Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Blessing Ngwa of Kansas Wesleyan has been named the NAIA National Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. They were selected based on their performances from Sept. 8 – 14 and were chosen out of a pool of conference player of the week selections.

National Defensive Player of the Week
Blessing Ngwa, Kansas Wesleyan (pictured)
5-10, Sr., G, Bamenda, Cameroon

• Helped lead Kansas Wesleyan to a perfect 3-0 week that included wins over a pair of nationally ranked opponents on the road.
• Was part of a 1-0 shutout victory at No. 13-ranked Benedictine (Kan.) behind five saves.
• Was instrumental in KWU's overtime 2-1 win over No. 10-ranked Concordia (Calif.) with six saves.
• Recorded six saves en route to earning his second shutout of the week against Westmont (Calif.) in a 1-0 overtime win.
• Total of 17 saves on the week and had a .317 GAA during the week.
• Earns first career NAIA National Player of the Week honor.

National Offensive Player of the Week
Severin Abt, Thomas (Ga.)
6-1, So., F, Schwaebisien Gmuend, Germany

• Collected four goals in two games helping No. 18-ranked Thomas to a perfect 2-0 record.
• Scored twice, including the game winner, to help the Night Hawks topple No. 1-ranked and defending NAIA National Champion Martin Methodist (Tenn.) in the NAIA National Game of the Week.
• Continued hot streak on Sunday afternoon, netting two more goals against #22 Bethel (Tenn.).
• Helped Thomas improve to 4-0-1 on the season, with all five matches coming against teams ranked in the NAIA Top 33.
• Also helped the Night Hawks pick up their eighth and ninth straight wins against NAIA Top 25 opponents.
• Earns first career NAIA National Player of the Week honor.
