KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Suzanna Gonzalez of Morningside (Iowa) has been named the final NAIA Women’s Swimmer/Diver of the Month, the national office announced Thursday. Gonzalez was selected for her performances from Jan. 16 – Feb. 12.

• During the eight-team Liberal Arts Championships in Elsah, Ill., Gonzalez was named Swimmer of the Meet after earning two first-place finishes and one second-place medal.
• Gonzalez was all about setting records as she set a meet and school record in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:32.53). She also earned new school-records in the 200-yard (1:54.72) and 500-yard (5:01.43) freestyles. In the 800-yard freestyle relay at the Championships, Gonzalez’s team also broke a Mustang record with a time of 8:10.13.
• In the latest NAIA Women’s Swimming Top Times, Gonzalez leads the way in both the 500-yard and 1,650-yard freestyles, while also earning the seventh-fastest mark in the 200-yard freestyle.
• This is Gonzalez’s first National Swimmer of the Month honor.
