DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Joonas Siikala continued his goal scoring binge, putting Northwood ahead for good with a 67th minute goal in a 3-2 win over No.6 Embry-Riddle on Wednesday night.
It was the Eagles who struck first, as AJ Barrett put home a Ryan Woods pass in the 25th minute to put ERAU (5-2-3, 3-1-1 The Sun Conference) ahead. It was the first conference loss of the season for Embry-Riddle, who had their seven game unbeaten streak snapped.
Anders Sulisalo equalised for the Seahawks (7-2-1, 4-2-1 The Sun Conference) with his first goal for Northwood. Siikala then put Northwood in front at 36 minutes with his 13th goal of the year.
After halftime, the Eagles' Marco Harleman netted his first goal of the season at the 50:19 mark to level the score at 2-2, but Siikala responded with the game winner, his second goal of the game 23 minutes from time.
Andy Robertson made the start and collected four saves between the sticks for Northwood - counterpart Alfredo Diaz made one save for Embry-Riddle.
Northwood will make the long trip up to Hardeeville, S.C., to take on the Savannah College of Art & Design on Saturday at 7 p.m. In the earlier fixture this season, the Bees defeated Northwood 1-0 in overtime on September 28
