Concordia (Calif.) Holds on to No. 1 Spot in 2007 NAIA Men's Soccer Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Concordia (Calif.) held on to the No. 1 billing for the second straight week earning 11 first-place votes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Soccer Top 25 Poll, announced this afternoon. Concordia, who holds the first-place spot by 16 points (323-307) over second-place Azusa Pacific (Calif.) shut-out California Baptist 1-0 in its only match last week.

Behind Azusa, No. 3 Graceland (Iowa) received the other two first-place votes and a total of 306 points, just one point behind second-place. No. 4 Southern Nazarene (Okla.) moved up one spot and No. 5 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) slid up three holes.

No. 11 Mobile (Ala.) perhaps made the biggest leap of the week after receiving votes in the Sept. 19 poll. Sitting with a 4-2-1 overall mark, Mobile has won its last four straight matches including a 2-0 win over then-No. 7 Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) last week.

In other interesting news, No. 22 Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) found itself in the 2007 poll for the first time. PLNU, one of four perfect teams in the poll, moved to 6-0-0 with a 3-1 upset home win over then-No. 6 Fresno Pacific (Calif.) last Saturday. Houghton (N.Y.) debut at the No. 24 slot coming off a 2-1 road victory against Rio Grande (Ohio) last Saturday - Rio Grande reached as high as No. 2 in the Sept. 5 edition of the Top 25.

The fifth regular season Top 25 poll (sixth overall) will be released on Wednesday, Oct. 3.
